Panyembrama, Warm Welcome To Bali

Panyembrama dance is a clasic welcome dance in Bali. Originally this dance create to performed on a religious ceremonies in Bali such as temple festivals. This dance is to welcome the God, when the ceremonies in progress.

When you visit the island of Bali with a group that consists of more than 30 people maybe you will be given welcome a dance called Dance Panyembrama. This dance is performed by Balinese girls. When the USA President, Ronald Reagan visited Bali, he was greeted with this dance. Beside Tari Panyembrama, there is another dance called Pendet, which is a sacred dance dedicated to the guests who come to the island of Bali. This dance is actually a sacred dance that only appears when there are ceremonies in the temple. In addition to welcome important guests, dance is also used as the opening dance at important events such as conferences or when there are high-level performing arts in Bali.

The name of the dance comes from the Balinese word for welcome. The dancer’s movements follow vibrant gamelan. According to the creator, all the routines in the Panyembrama dance are the combination of basic routines of Balinese dance such as Legong Keraton and Condong. Roses, frangipani, and other flowers play an important role in this dance. There are two unique routines in this dance. 

The Panyembrama is probably the most popular Balinese social dance. During the dance, the flowers are scattered over the guest or audience as an expression of welcome. There is an analogy between the secular Panymebrama and the religious temple dances, as all these dances are welcoming dances, the difference being in the place in which they are stage.
