Tumpek Landep is a holy day to worship Hyang Pasupati - the manifestation of God who confer the life to sentient beings and weapons of human life. Therefore, when Tumpek Landep, the pointed or sharp weapons such as keris are offerings - as people's act of devotion to God who have confer the weapons or equipment that facilitate human life.
Its a holy day that is still connected with the Science holy day, Saraswati day. When the human being gain knowledge and celebrate it on Saraswati day, now it the time to sharpen the mind and use as appropriate.
According the Hindu's spirituals leader Ida Pedanda Made Gunung, in the celebration of Tumpek Landep, the community simbolically perform the ceremony to a variety of weapons that made from iron or metal such as Keris (Balinese sacred short windy sword), spears and riffles. But in a modern day, now people do the ceremony to their own cars, bike, and technology devices (TVs, Radio, etc.) too. This new habbits of the community is just to show their gratitude to the God's generousity to their lifes.

He said, 'Tumpek Landep is an approaching process to the God to hone the science in order to achieve true consciousness and self esteem. In the current implementation, the celebration of Tumpek Landep by the younger generation can be done with their studies as high as for the future, not clubbing and get drunk everyday.' Ida Pedanda who is from Gria Purnawati, Blahbatuh appealed to mankind, especially Hindus, do not forget to sharpen knowledge for the sake of something positive, to build the nation and country and build yourself to get the ultimate consciousness.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Bali Parisada IGN Sudiana says in the ritual of Tumpek Landep, there are some expression that is; landeping idep (mind), landeping wak (words) and landeping laksana (act). It means that thoughts, words and deeds should be 'sharpened' in the direction of progress - a big benefit to mankind.
Tumpek Landep celebration essentially pray to the Sanghyang Widhi (God) to awarded the mankind of sharp lifes weapon. Landep implies Sharp-pointed, so that we need to sharpen our lifes weapon. The weapon of life is our brain (thougt). In order to inteligent our minds, need to be sharphened. Through a sharp mind we able to face various enemies such as the life issues, including poverty, ignorance, and so forth. The various enemies that we must opponent with a weapon of life.
